Nearby cities and villages An important town on the Marche Riviera, an active fishing centre and one of the major seaside resorts in the mid-Adriatic Sea, San Benedetto del Tronto, located between the Tesino river to the north and the Tronto river to the south, has a long beach of fine white sand that slopes gently into the sea, characterised by shallow waters. The promenade is distinguished by its rich vegetation, consisting mainly of countless palm trees that also grow on the beach.

For this reason, San Benedetto is also referred to as the 'Palm Riviera'. There is a considerable amount of accommodation, including hotels, flats and campsites:
